Mallika brings several years of international HR experience in addition to being a certified leadership coach and certified for Advanced Interpretation and Development Coaching by Hogan, a personality and leadership assessment. Q: Why did you become a coach?
In my career journey as a strategic HR leader, I had been actively involved in helping managers develop their leadership style and people management strategy with the objective of successfully developing and maximizing the potential of their human capital. This often required a deep dive or understanding of other broader issues that focus on individual behavioural change, for example – life purpose or work-life balance motivations.
Leadership coaching has been both a natural and purposeful transition for me as being a leadership coach enables me to not just influence behaviour but also become an integral part of a leader’s learning journey and process. A solid foundation in coaching practices in combination with my consulting experiences allows me to build and support leadership excellence for the achievement of business performance objectives in an increasingly complex and disruptive business environment.
Q: Tell us about the HOGAN assessment you use?
Amongst the various tools a leadership coach can use, I liked the range of evaluations that Hogan Assessments offered to understand people’s strengths, weaknesses, values and approach to problem solving. It is not simply one or even two dimensional, but instead helps you to bring together a complete 360 degree view of the client and connect the ‘what’ or the assessment results to the ‘so what’, or what does in mean for me. With Hogan, both the client and the coach have the flexibility to have the debriefing and coaching discussion over the phone or skype and there are various reports a coach can use to prep, debrief and then share a more comprehensive report after the debrief
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself?
I have been fortunate to live in and experience multiple cultures and build bonds across the world. I was born to a military family in India and have wanderlust in my blood! I have lived all over India, Singapore and now the USA and I believe this journey has given me the ability to adapt quickly and build resilience.
I have over fifteen years of diverse experience across manufacturing, pharmaceutical and financial services industries and a track record of maximizing organizational effectiveness and building leadership and talent pipelines within a multinational, high-growth and complex environment. I was last associated with Swiss Reinsurance, AIG and Quintiles-IMS as Director of Human Resources and a strategic HR Business Partner tasked with maximization of organizational performance through building organizational and leadership capability, leading change management strategy and partnering for organization restructuring and business transformation, championing talent management and employee engagement initiatives.
Q: What is unique about you?
My resilience and ability to preserve through any challenge with gusto!:-) My first job was as a HR Trainee in a manufacturing plant – I was their first ever female employee and worked in that environment with 1200 men. They had never had a women’s washroom before I came along, needless to say many changes were required. I was determined not to just persevere but also make a successful lasting impact and make it easier for the others that would follow.
