Leading Well for a Culture of Well-being

In early May, 2019 I had the opportunity to lead a workshop on Mental Health and Well-being at Work for #UNFPA staff at the Regional Office in Bangkok and a Webinar on the same topic for all Offices in the Asia-Pacific Region.

The success of mental health, wellness and wellbeing initiatives at work depends upon the commitment of senior leadership to develop a trusting and inclusive culture with opportunities to participate in wellness initiatives, such as, yoga, and micro-breaks, and opportunities to talk about mental health.

We did exactly this last week. We role played talking about burn-out, depression and self-harm in a multicultural office. We discussed how to create a healthy, supportive and collaborative workplace and how to manage stress; We took micro-breaks: stretched and twist jumped to prevent the pains and aches caused by too much sitting.
